TCIA Tree Care Academy

TCIA Tree Care Academy is the online training programme of the Tree Care Industry Association, a trade association based in Manchester, New Hampshire. TCIA was established in 1938 as the National Arborist Association and renamed in 2003. It describes itself as the only national trade association for tree care companies in the US, with more than 1,400 tree care company members and nearly 400 affiliated corporate members. Tree Care Academy courses combine online learning with on-the-job skills demonstrations and are grouped into career tracks: Ground Operations 1–4 (fundamentals, chipper, chain saw, and rigging and removal), Tree Climber Specialist, Aerial Lift Operations, Tree Care Specialist, Plant Health Care Technician and Crew Leader Specialist. Many titles are available in Spanish, and most award ISA and CTSP continuing education units. TCIA says the courses help employers verify and document OSHA and ANSI Z133 required training. Alongside the Academy, TCIA runs the Electrical Hazards Awareness Program (EHAP), the Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP) credential and the Crew Leader Qualification. TCIA reports more than 3,000 CTSPs across the US, Canada and Mexico. Member companies can also obtain a free customised learning portal to track employee progress. Courses are priced individually, with lower rates for members. TCIA's site lists single modules from $57.50 for members and the CTSP programme at $648 for members and $874 for non-members. Some TCIA pages show different prices for the same course, so confirm the price at checkout.
