What is KeyTREE?

Transoft's compatibility page lists KeyTREE as supporting Autodesk AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Map 3D 2022 to 2026, on 64-bit Windows 11. AutoCAD LT is not supported. Transoft says each KeyTREE release supports the AutoCAD version it was built against plus the previous four, so users who upgrade AutoCAD may need to update KeyTREE too.

Do I need a full copy of AutoCAD to use KeyTREE?

Standard KeyTREE needs a full copy of AutoCAD, Civil 3D or Map 3D, not AutoCAD LT. If you do not own full AutoCAD, KeyTREE LT is a standalone edition with its own built-in Autodesk AutoCAD 2026 OEM engine, so it runs without a separate AutoCAD licence.

Does KeyTREE run on a Mac or a tablet?

No. KeyTREE is Windows desktop software. Transoft lists 64-bit Windows 11 workstations, and its help desk says KeyTREE needs a full copy of Windows and a relatively high-specification computer, so it will not run on most mobile devices. Tree data is recorded on site with a separate collection tool and imported into KeyTREE in the office.

KeyTREE has no site data-capture app of its own; it imports data collected with other tools. Transoft says it supports recording systems that export to its recommended formats, including Trimble, PocketGIS, Excel spreadsheets and QField. Suppliers such as ArbEvolve, M-GISS and OTISS provide KeyTREE templates, and KeyTREE 2026 added OTISS import of RPA geometry.

Is there a free trial of KeyTREE?

Yes. Transoft offers a free evaluation of KeyTREE, requested through a form on its KeyTREE demo page. Under Transoft's standard software licence agreement, evaluation licences are limited to one user and a maximum of seven days unless Transoft agrees otherwise, and may be used only for internal testing, not client work.

Can KeyTREE export tree data to Revit, IFC and GIS?

Yes. KeyTREE exports tree data to Autodesk Revit, IFC, ESRI shapefile (SHP) and AutoCAD blocks with attributes for BIM collaboration, and it can import from and export to Google Earth. Since KeyTREE 2026, Revit export works with the free KeySCAPE for Revit add-in. Recent versions also add asset IDs, Biodiversity Net Gain codes and carbon estimates for trees.
